Center For Excellencecfe

Chartwells' Center For Excellence dining facilities are regarded as a proven pinnacle of excellence within Chartwells and parent company Compass Group North America. As a Center for Excellence or CFE, the college or university dining operation and facility managed by Chartwells serves as a regional training center that also hosts New Manager Orientations for Chartwells' associates. CFE's are wholly supported by a dedicated team of senior operations management, regional chefs and key marketing managers to ensure that the highest standards are consistently maintained. New initiatives and systems, food program innovations, brands and retail merchandising strategies are constantly introduced and evaluated at CFE locations with seventeen in existence throughout the U.S. to date.

The Chartwells' Culinary Network objective is to provide support services and resources to culinary teams to help business development through new innovations and drive facilitation of culinary strategies, programs and standards. CCN members champion the culinary teams at each college or university operation and help with development through training and mentoring for career advancement. Efforts also include promoting and elevating campus foodservice by providing the healthiest dining choices within eco-friendly operations as well as improving efficiencies and performance that support sustainability, financial growth, Quality Assurance and food safety.

Chartwells' Chefs of the Year

The Chartwells Chef of the Year Award was established in 2010 to recognize and pay tribute to our associates who exemplify superior culinary expertise and dedication within the college foodservice arena. Receiving this honor recognizes our culinary professionals for industry related and personal achievements following Chartwells Eat.Learn.Live. philosophy, our Vision & Values and Management & Performance objectives. Chartwells most celebrated culinarians are recognized for their efforts that promote and elevate campus foodservice by providing the healthiest dining choices, fostering team development and improving business efficiencies and performance that increase financial growth within eco-friendly operations.

The Chef of the Year must possess the highest culinary standards, superior culinary skills, proven business knowledge, professionalism and demonstrated leadership as a champion in the industry. Each Chartwells' region across the U.S. chooses a regional chef of the year and out of those regions, one national chef of the year is celebrated each year.
